Texture

Print Experiments

The above image is a scan of some mono prints i was working on whilst exploring the idea of ink and textures. It was created by inking up a mono print plate in pure black ink. I then applied a detergent to the plate and let it sit for a while as it stripped some layers randomly or as i like to put it as chaos determined by the universes whim. I then ran the plate through a printing press and this was the result. This work continues with my experimentation of trying to tap into chaos and figured out how it can be used as a design element.

Using techniques i learned from the previous mono prints on texture. I tried applying them to something that is a bit more relatable. Using some questions cards i got from a lecturer, i blindly selected one of them and the card simply said darkness quietly. These cards come from a technique called oblique strategies that was developed by the composer and artist Brian Eno. What i found interesting about these cards is that it is one way to tap into chaos by forcing you to think quickly and in the moment on topics that are not to descriptive in their explanation.
