Guest Speaker

As part of my professional practice module in my third year we had a couple of guest come in and give us talks on their experiences in the design world. The first guest speaker was Denise Courcoux who has a BA in fine art with English Literature. She got her start in the design world through volunteering jobs where she met all kinds of people that she was able to network with and get her foot in the door. She had some valuable information regarding when students leave university to find their first jobs. by saying that sometimes things happen unextpecdily and that students sometimes end up in jobs that are not part of the field they want to be in, but she said these jobs can offer great experiences and can help us build on portfolios.
After some time had past Denise found herself back at university doing a masters in Art Gallery and Museum studies where she furthered her skills as a researcher and found herself getting professional opportunities in the role of Art Curator. The thing i found most interesting about her talks was the way she spoke about finding yourself in jobs that may not be part of your field after university but that these jobs always offer a great opportunity to learn from.
